Wintel Engineer

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE:

• Provide support for, install, manage/maintain and develop Server and Storage systems and core infrastructure applications and services, particularly Windows servers,
• VMWare virtualization, Pure & Netapp storage, Microsoft AD/AAD, Dell and HP server computing hardware
• Capacity planning, security policies, backup and monitoring
• Participate in Disaster Recovery operations including managing and performing DR tests, maintaining processes and carrying out of live DR invocation
• Experience of working in a financial background is preferred.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

Essential

• Extensive knowledge of Windows Server/Client operating systems and services. (MCSA preferred)
• Active Directory, Group Policy, ADFS, Azure AD, Conditional Access and SSO, DHCP, DNS
• VMWare vSphere, ESXI, NSX, Horizon
• Storage area networks – Pure & NetApp hands-on storage skills including configuration of snap management
• Backup systems
• HP and Dell Powerflex / Powermax server hardware and supporting systems
• Microsoft Windows server build and support (all versions)
• Microsoft Exchange 2016 / Office 365.
• Powershell scripting in enterprise production environments
• Grafana & Prometheus.
• InfluxDB and Kafka.
• Windows 10 & 11 desktops – performance troubleshooting and optimization.
• Microsoft SCOM.
• Microsoft SCCM.
• Working Cisco LAN / WAN experience
• Working in enterprise data-centres, installing server and storage hardware and managing suppliers
• Managing and maintaining DC disaster recovery operations

Desirable:

• Experience of managing the full networking stack. (CCENT preferred)
• Skilled with virtualisation technology like VMware. (VCP preferred)
• Extensive knowledge of the Microsoft Azure Cloud Adoption Framework (Certified Azure Admin Associate)
• Extensive knowledge of the Microsoft 365 E5 suite of services (M365/Identity/Security Certified)
• A good understanding of the Azure technologies
• Core IaaS – compute, storage, networking, hybrid
• PaaS services including App/SQL Services.
• Terraform – Proficient
• Infrastructure as Code design and implementation.
